Game #5 : Poinsettia Bowl

Louisiana Tech +10  v TCU
Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego
Wednesday 7:00 p.m. ESPN
This one has intriguing numbers.

Both of these teams enter the game with 7 game winning streaks.  TCU opened as a 12 1/2 point favorite and has been bet down to 10.  The reason appears to be Louisiana Tech's remarkable record ATS;  they're 11-1 ATS this season.

I normally gravitate toward TCU as they've been kind to us over the years, but 11-1 ATS for LaTech is too strong to ignore.   They haven't been cheap covers for the most part, either. The last 5 games they  have covered by 3, 23 1/2, 19, 11 and 21.  On the other side, TCU is 2-3 ATS in their last 5.

Now, the poinsettia.

Indigenous to Mexico and Central America, the poisettia was introduced to the USA in 1825 by Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first American Minister to Mexico.  The plant's bright colors result from (ready for this one?)

meaning it requires 12 hours of darkness for 5 consecutive days to change color.

Did you think this was gonna be just a bunch of dumb football gambling stuff?

Update
31-24 TCU was the final.  We win!  Felt sorry for LaTech, they played their hearts out.  I got over my angst quickly; cashing a winner will do that.
